All guests must abide by the following the terms and conditions of the property.

Payment policies

Deposits are required for each room listed on the booking. Deposits are required to secure the booking. The remaining payment is collected in full on check in.

General bookings

A first nights deposit is collected 48 hours prior to reservation to secure the booking.

Long Stays (Applies to 5+ Nights)

50% of your total payment is collected 7 days Prior to your booking.

Group Bookings
3 or more rooms

50% is required 7 days prior to arrival.

5 or more rooms + 3 or more rooms during 16th Dec 2020 – 31 Jan 2021

10% of the total payment is due at the time of the booking. 50% is required one month prior to arrival.

Christmas & New Years bookings

Applicable from 25th December to 31 January – a first nights deposit is collected 7 days prior to arrival to secure the booking.

School Holidays and Public Holiday bookings
A first nights deposit is collected 72 hours prior to reservation to secure the booking.
Credit cards

Please ensure a valid credit card is provided at the time of booking. In the event the card is invalid, your reservation will remain unconfirmed and may be subject to cancellation. Accepted credit cards: Mastercard, Visa, AMEX. A 2% surcharge applies to AMEX.
Reservations are not considered confirmed until the deposit is taken to secure the booking. If credit cards are invalid or declined The Cape Gateway Motel reserves the right to cancel the booking.

Cancellation & Modifications

Any refunds owing to Modification of bookings are subject to Management discretion.

General Bookings

No shows, cancellations or modifications within the applicable deposit window for your reservation may result in forfeit of your first nights deposit.

Black out dates/School & Public Holidays

Deposits are non-refundable within applicable deposit window. The sails motel reserves the right to charge the value of your entire stay for cancellations, modifications or no shows within these dates.

Long Stays (Applies to booking over 5 days)

If booking is cancelled or modified within 7 days of the arrival date, the deposit is non refundable.

Group Bookings (5 or more rooms)

All group booking deposits are non refundable. Cancellation & Modifications are subject to fees.

Check in/out

Check in time is from 2pm.
Check out time is 10am.
Early check-ins/late check outs are subject to availability & must be arranged prior to arrival. Fees may apply.

No smoking

The Cape Gateway Motel is a smoke free property. No smoking is allowed on the property – $100 penalty applies to smoke affected rooms

No Party Policy

The Cape Gateway Motel has a strict no party policy, any group booking must inform management prior to the nature of the group and must agree to the Group Booking Terms and Conditions before booking. Disruptive noise, excessive drinking or large gatherings will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to vacate/evict any guest or group displaying anti-social behaviour with no refunds considered.

Maximum Occupancy

Only the number of people designated on booking or check-in may stay in the room overnight. Any extra people will be advised to leave. Due to law and fire safety regulations only the maximum occupancy is allowed.

Refusal of Entry

Management reserves the right to refuse return guests who have caused damage or disruption to the motel and its guests on a previous stay and/or guests who have been evicted from other accommodation providers for same reasons or criminal behaviour.

Age Policy

Bookings will only be accepted for guests 18years or over. Underage guests will be denied access to the motel unless accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian for the duration of their stay. Schoolies bookings are strictly prohibited.


Pets are not permitted on the property unless approved by management prior to arrival. Pet Policy Terms and Conditions apply and if terms are breached will incur penalty fees and possible eviction.

Lost Property

The Cape Gateway Motel is not responsible for any property left by a guest at the premises (Please check all wardrobes and drawers before vacating the property). If items are found after departure, The Cape Gateway Motel will hold the item for one week. After this time, items are donated to charity.

Additional charges

Additional charges will incur for the following; breakages, damage to the property, missing items*, late departure, lost keys and extra cleaning.
*Any items removed from the property which are the under ownership of The Sails Motel will be considered stolen and the cost of the item charged to the credit card on file. The total charged will be dependent on the item itself and at the discretion of the Proprietor.

Changes to the Service

You acknowledge that The Cape Gateway Motel reserves the right to change or modify the booking, products, rates, services, programs and terms described at any time without notice and without liability.
